What's it all about?

Boardgame Babylon is a podcast about designer board games. The show features session reviews, "Rectangular Table Discussions" with guests and themed shows on subjects of interest to players of euro/designer/strategy games. Your host, E.R. Burgess, is a longtime writer, game player and 'redesigner' of board games who will occasionally veer off on tangents about his other passions: literature, film and music.

Boardgame Babylon is finally back with a new show and can you believe it’s already another show from a Strategicon?

Yes, it’s been a very busy year. I’ll probably talk more about that in BGB v53 but for now, I just want to release this enjoyable Q&A session recorded at Gamex 2008 with Guest of Honor Zev Shlasinger. Zev was good enough to join us out here in Los Angeles over the Memorial Day Weekend for the biggest Gamex of the decade. The Strategicons are gaining more and more momentum, getting larger and it’s great events like this one that are part of it. L.A. has a terrific boardgaming community and it is a real pleasure to see so many of the California Gamerati come out to these events.

In addition to the Agricola and Pandemic tournaments, we also had a Z-Man Marathon tournament with players getting points for each Z-Man title played during the course of the day. Players were also encouraged to join us for this session with Zev, where he answers many audience questions (and a few from yours truly). I hope you enjoy it as much as the audience and I did.

Two more shows will be coming out of Gamex. The first is a show about many of the new games I demonstrated at the show, including Ticket to Ride: The Card Game, Innsmouth Escape, Pizza Box Baseball, and Cutthroat Caverns - and perhaps a few more. My voice is still shot almost a week later from demoing, teaching and podcasting all weekend. The second show is “Agricola: In depth” -expect that one in the latter half of June.

Please send any feedback to me at the link on the side, post to the comments or drop a note on the Boardgame Babylon Guild on BGG.com.
